About Course

This course is a collaboration with Learning Little People.

Forging Future Leaders: Restoring Classrooms and Communities is a professional learning opportunity designed for K-12 administrators. Restorative practices have been broadly accepted in school settings as a discipline alternative. Restorative leadership uses restorative and other practices to proactively build classrooms and communities that invite, radically include, and collaborate – thereby reducing harming incidents that require a response (disciplinary or otherwise) in the first place.

Before they will dare to take risks to learn,
students must trust…
-Lester Laminack

The administrator will explore crafting classrooms based on stakeholder trust relationships. This course specifically examines trust relationships between students, faculty, administrators, and the community. There are 4 modules–two asynchronous modules that are designed to be completed within three weeks each, and two synchronous modules designed to be completed after each synchronous session.

This training is presented through experiential learning methods and is approved for PLU credit by the Alabama Department of Education. (To extend credit to another state, email larry@lifecrafter.org)

This course is designed as a resource for administrators and teachers to create trust in the classroom and radiates through the community. It is particularly effective for schools that have suffered a breach of trust event.

Breach of trust events such as suicides, traumatic injuries and death, threats, and teacher-student boundary violations interrupt the trust relationship in the classroom and the community. The tools used to create trust in the classroom can be used to restore trust – a necessary step after every breach of trust event.
