PUBLISHER’S NOTE: A technical error prevented the Thanksgiving blog post from being published two weeks ago. We are publishing it now, after Thanksgiving, as its message of gratitude remains relevant, especially as we approach the Christmas season.
Thanksgiving, a cherished American holiday, is deeply rooted in a history of unity and togetherness. The tradition traces back to 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians celebrated a harvest feast in a shared community spirit. This communal meal, marked by a sense of unity and thanks, laid the groundwork for what would eventually become a national holiday.
Fast-forward to 1789, a pivotal moment in the history of Thanksgiving. President George Washington, in a significant move, declared the first national Thanksgiving Day. This act of leadership set aside a day for Americans to give thanks for their blessings. The tradition was further cemented when President Abraham Lincoln, in 1863, declared a national Thanksgiving Day to unite the nation during the Civil War. He aimed to foster a sense of unity and gratitude among Americans, regardless of their differences.
Today, Thanksgiving continues to be a time for family, friends, and feasting. It’s a day to reflect on the blessings in our lives and express gratitude for the abundance we enjoy. This emphasis on gratitude encourages us to be appreciative and reflective, fostering a deeper connection to the holiday’s true spirit.
So, from the families of Life Crafter to your family, have a blessed, safe, and wonderful Thanksgiving.
